Guest Chef Series:
Chef Ji Hye Kim
September 15
Two Ann Arbor kitchens. Two different traditions. One night at Echelon.
On Tuesday, September 15th, we're welcoming Chef Ji Hye Kim—chef and managing partner of Miss Kim, and one of the most respected names in Ann Arbor's food scene—to the Echelon kitchen for the next installment of our Guest Chef Series.
Chef Kim built Miss Kim on a simple idea: honor traditional Korean cooking, rooted in Michigan's own farmland. The result has earned her multiple James Beard Award semifinalist nods and a spot on Food & Wine's Best New Chefs list—but ask anyone who's eaten there, and they'll tell you it's really about the relationships: a decade-plus at the same farmers' market stalls, building the kind of sourcing that shows up on the plate.
That's not so different from what happens over our own wood fire. Different tradition, same instinct: let good Michigan ingredients do the talking. For one night, both approaches share a kitchen.
What to expect
Expect two kitchens, one fire. Expect flavors you won't see paired anywhere else in Ann Arbor. Expect a night worth talking about after.
